Your free account
An initial verified account is required to start using Recordings, including local mode. We collect your account name and email address when you sign up with Google or email and password. Google sign-in shares the account information shown on its consent screen. Verification and account recovery messages go to your email address. Your Mac retains the verified account profile needed to use local mode offline after setup.
Local recording and transcription
In local mode, the app captures audio and runs a transcription model on your Mac. Local audio and transcripts stay on your Mac; creating an account does not upload them. Initial sign-in and verification, downloading the app, updates, and a model require a network connection. After setup, local transcription works offline and does not silently fall back to a hosted model.
Hosted transcription and your account
If you choose hosted transcription, audio is sent to Recordings’ hosted service and the selected transcription provider to generate text. Your signed-in Library can store recording information, transcripts, and audio used by the service. Recordings uses your account identity to control access to that information.
Source Mac
New recordings and paste-history entries can include your Mac’s name (its local hostname) and a random Recordings installation identifier so you can tell which Mac they came from. The identifier is created by Recordings, not read from a hardware serial number, and stays the same if you rename your Mac or switch accounts. This information stays on your Mac in local mode and syncs with your account in hosted mode. We do not send it to transcription providers.
Automatic paste and submission
With your permission, the Mac app can paste a finished transcript into another app. Paste history records the destination, delivery status and, when text retention is enabled, transcript text. It stays on your Mac in local mode and syncs with your account in hosted mode. Automatic submission is off by default. If you enable it for a destination app, Recordings requests the configured submit key only after confirming the paste. A submit-key status records only the key request; it does not confirm that the destination accepted or sent your message. The destination app processes pasted text under its own terms and privacy practices.
Billing
Paid subscriptions use Stripe Checkout and Stripe’s customer portal. Stripe processes the payment details you enter on its pages. Recordings receives the customer and subscription information needed to provide and manage your plan. Stripe’s privacy policy explains its processing.
Service operations
The hosted service uses infrastructure and service providers to process requests, store account and recording information, deliver authentication email, and maintain the service. Requests can include technical information such as network addresses, error information, and usage needed to operate and protect the service.
Your controls
You can choose local or hosted transcription, remove recordings through the Library, and manage macOS permissions in System Settings. Removing a recording from Recordings does not remove text already pasted or exported into another app. To request account deletion or help with personal information, contact privacy@hasna.com.
This website
The website stores your selected color theme in your browser. Account pages use the authentication state necessary to sign you in. The interactive product preview uses fictional text and does not request access to your microphone.
